No Slacking

source: www.stomp.com.sg

This is rather amusing to see. Recently on the Singapore based webpage www.stomp.com.sg, there was an updated on the new signages on board the Singapore's subway trains. "No Slacking" ! Wonder if this was just a prank or was it for real? You can't even slack and relax on you way to home from work? Overwork at job/School and even whilst traveling on trains you have to behave diligent, Stiff and serious?

Kaisu (Afraid to lose out) Singapore Queue

Singaporeans are well known for queuing and somehow they never fail to find new cause to queue for however ridiculous it may seems.

Q 1 @ Exchange a new transit card
EZlink card system has been in operation in Singapore, UK and Hongkong for almost a decade. Last year it finally came to Australia. This year Singapore initiated the upgrading of the transit card into a new multi purpose card. With this card you can pay for groceries, fines, purchases and much more. So when the exchange exercise started, people just appeared in train and bus stations.

Q 2 @ Chinatown Pork BBQ Jerky
During festive season certain food item are really popular. Bak Gua (Pork BBQ Jerky) is only of those items and every year hundreds of people queue for it. It isn't cheap, $48 per kg this year.

Q 3 @ Chinatown Hawker centre
Went to this place with my parents and was told by my parents
this is the only place that sells 70Cents Peanut porridge.

Q 4 @ Jurong Point Shopping mall

This is a huge mall of 30,000 sqm.
So when you spent $60 or more in one receipt,
you get your chance to spin the wheel. This queue is easily a 1-2 hours wait for your turn.
ground view
observe the line.
Queue from the top view.
Guess what? the highest prize is an $80 bucks voucher.
To spend 2 good hours in a queue for this, is really of little worth.
Would you spend that time for an umbrella or a plastic bag.
So many singaporeans do not have personal hobby but the nation's favourite pastime is certainly the great Singapore Queue!

Snippet of Singapore

Waiting at the round about for the New Year's Day celebration highlights (Fireworks)!!!
Long wait for a dish so to quench the craving for local delights

A Table filled with the local delights. Rojar, Fried Chicken, Satay Grilled Fish, Prawn noodle,etc...

So many People at a traffic crossing. High influx of migrant to Singapore in recent year.

More electronic road pricing for drivers. Not cheap to drive anymore. I read that London will also adopt this Singapore method.

I have been back to Singapore for a week +. So much has changed ! So many people. I hope I can enjoy a good break before returning home to Australia to Work and attend my graduation ceremony. Here's some snippet of lives in Singapore.

Random photos for the past few weeks

Is this goodbye to Toowong?

Been here for 2 years, hope I can continue to live here.

Knock my shoulder to a signage at church and it caused this.

I dread eating my breafast/lunch/dinner alone with my TV.

My laptop is dying on me. Noisy Fan with broken ball bearing.
Hope I will be in time to fix it before warranty expires.

Worse storm in 25 years hit Brisbane, just look at the debris in the river.

1 student versus 6 examiners -
This is the kind of stress we were placed thru in defence of our final design presenation.

My regular bowl of rice, I'm out of things to cook.

my fittest moment

Man ! i'm no longer in my fittest period in life. ha-ha...wonder hows everyone from the platoon is doing now? I looked so good in my prime (bottom left in the photo). Compare that to the recent photos at the Singaporean function (see earlier blog) and you will see a fatter version of me. Hmm... I guess my goal after studying is to return to that old me. Hope that will be realized in the coming future. ;)
